Haim-Benyamin Maor (Moshkowitz) was born in Jaffa in 1951 to Holocaust survivor parents. From 2007 to 1997 he was a member of Kibbutz Givat Haim Meuchad. During the 1980s, Maor was active in the kibbutz art community. Alongside his membership in the artists' group "HaMashthu Kibbutz", he served as co-curator of the "Kibbutz" gallery from 1980 to 1981. From 1981 to 1985, he served as an art correspondent for the kibbutz movement's journal "Yachad" and the newspaper "Al HaMishmar". In 1989, he was one of the founders of the journal "Studio" and served as its editor until 1993. He currently lives and works in Meitar. In the 1970s, his works dealt with visual expressions, in photography and installation, of historical shares and guilt. During the second half of the 1980s, references to the Holocaust and historical memory began to appear in his works, created primarily in the medium of painting. Among his well-known works: "The Sign of Cain" (1978), "Afflicted Head" (1987), and more.
